Earlier this week, the team of Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan' revealed that Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are playing Aditya Karikalan, Vanthiyathevan and Nandhini, respectively. Today, the production houses brought us the character poster of Trisha as Kundavai.

Kundavai, also called Ilaiyapiratti Kundavai Nachiyar or Kundavai Pirattiyar, is the loving daughter of Sundara Chola and the princess of the Chola kingdom. She is a key character in defeating the conspiracy surrounding the throne. Presenting the poster, the makers wrote, "In a world of men, a woman of courage. Presenting Princess Kundavai!" (sic).

'Ponniyin Selvan' is legendary director Mani Ratnam's dream project and the cinematic adaptation of the renowned author Kalki's epic Tamil novel of the same name. The cast & crew have planned an extensive promotional tour across the globe for the film. The movie will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

The massive budget film also stars Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Parthiban, Prakash Raj, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Kishore, Rahman, Jayaram, Ashwin, Arjun Chidambaram and others. With music by AR Rahman, 'Ponniyin Selvan part 1' is all set to storm the screens on September 30.
