Sukumar Stands Strong Behind ‘Peddi’; Chiranjeevi Visits Sets in Viral BTS Clip

Director Sukumar may not be helming Peddi directly, but his creative influence on the film appears to be immense. The visionary filmmaker behind the blockbuster Pushpa franchise has reportedly played a crucial role in shaping the much-awaited Ram Charan starrer, guiding the project from behind the scenes and supporting his protégé, director Buchi Babu Sana, at every stage.
With global star Ram Charan leading the film, Peddi has already emerged as one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2026. The film also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles, while the excitement surrounding the project has only intensified with every new update.
Recently, Ram Charan shared a special BTS glimpse from the sets of Peddi featuring Sukumar and Megastar Chiranjeevi. Sharing the nostalgic moment on social media, the actor captioned it, “Original Peddi on the sets of #Peddi #Throwback.”
The makers too unveiled a heartwarming behind-the-scenes video showcasing Chiranjeevi and Sukumar visiting the film’s shoot. Sharing the clip, they wrote:
“Here are some fun BTS moments that are close to our heart. Megastar @Chiranjeevikonidela Garu and Maverick director @aryasukku Garu visited the shoot of #Peddi. #PEDDI WORLDWIDE RELEASE IN CINEMAS ON JUNE 4th, with PREMIERES on JUNE 3rd. Trailer announcement soon.”
Though Buchi Babu Sana is directing the film, industry sources reveal that Sukumar has been deeply involved in the project’s creative process from the very beginning. From story development and character choices to music direction, edit supervision, and backend creative decisions, Sukumar has reportedly stood as a strong pillar behind the film while ensuring his student’s vision remained intact.
Interestingly, Buchi Babu Sana had earlier worked as Sukumar’s assistant during Rangasthalam. Now, with Peddi, the filmmaker is directing the biggest project of his career under the mentorship of the Pushpa creator.
Presented by Sukumar Writings, the film has been mounted on a massive scale. Sukumar himself had earlier expressed strong confidence in the project, stating that he had known the script for a long time and believes Ram Charan’s performance as Peddi will create a nationwide sensation. The filmmaker reportedly spent nearly 20 months closely guiding the team, reflecting the perfectionism and emotional depth he is known for.
Every promotional asset released so far has further amplified the buzz around Peddi. From the teaser to songs like “Chikiri Chikiri” and “Rai Rai Raa Raa,” along with the striking posters, the film’s content has consistently struck a chord with audiences and transported them into the unique world crafted by the makers.
Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi also stars Shiva Rajkumar and Divyendu Sharma in important roles. The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas in association with Mythri Movie Makers and will be released in North India by Jio Studios .
Peddi is scheduled for a grand worldwide theatrical release on June 4, 2026, with premieres planned a day earlier on June 3.
