On Monday, Willem Dafoe thanked his wife, Giada Colagrande, for being an amazing companion as he took to the stage to accept his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
During the star ceremony in Hollywood, Dafoe, known for his good works in Spider-Man and Poor Things, paused to pay tribute to Colagrande, a film made of music that he married in 2005. "Thanks to my wife, Giada Colagrande, she teaches me to have gratitude and reminds me not to take my luck for granted," he said during the event.
Be it with Patricia Arquette, Pedro Pascal, Mark Ruffalo, Camila Morrone, or Guillermo Del Toro, Dafoe looked back on his career and the artistic community. Appreciating that he became part of a community where they share their stories and experiences and connect with each other, he emphasized his appreciation of how important storytelling is in today's world with the advent of technology.
The connection between Dafoe and Colagrande started spontaneously in Rome in 2004 and ended with a simple, impromptu wedding the following year. A kind of symbol for their spontaneity was provided at their brief ceremony—a mature Italian couple as their sole attendants.
The couple has no children together, but Dafoe shares an adult son with his ex-partner Elizabeth LeCompte, named Jack. The couple also collaborated on the 2016 film Padre, in which Colagrande served as director and screenwriter and appeared opposite him. He won his latest movie, Poor Things, the 2024 Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture in a Musical or Comedy.
Dafoe was conferred the 2,768th on the Walk of Fame, and it is really meaningful to have his star there amongst many of the luminaries of the trade.
