Director Shankar Heaps Praise on ‘Sirai’: “I Shed Tears in Many Scenes!”

The film Sirai, starring Vikram Prabhu and debutant L.K. Akshay Kumar, which released in theatres on December 25 and has been receiving positive response from audiences, has now earned high praise from acclaimed director Shankar.

Directed by debutant Suresh Rajkumari based on a story written by Taanakkaran director Tamizh, the film is produced by Lalit Kumar of 7 Screen Studio. Vikram Prabhu, L.K. Akshay Kumar (Lalit Kumar’s son), and Anishma Anilkumar play key roles in the movie.

In this regard, director Shankar has posted an emotional appreciation for Sirai on his X (Twitter) page. In his post, he wrote:

“Sirai is truly an excellent film. I shed tears in many places. Every character in the film, and the performances of the actors who portrayed them, stayed with me long after the movie ended.

Vikram has created a strong impact with his acting. The performances of Akshay Kumar and Anishma Anilkumar beautifully reflected the innocence and emotions of their characters.

Heartfelt congratulations to producer Lalit Kumar for giving us this wonderful film. Director Suresh has captured our hearts with his very first film – he has truly put us in a ‘sirai’ (captivated us).

The message conveyed in the final scene was very powerful and highly relevant to the present times.”

Sirai is reportedly based on true events and centres on the emotional journey between a police officer and a prisoner. The film has been widely appreciated by critics for its heartfelt storytelling. Director Shankar’s glowing praise has further boosted excitement for the film’s team.
