Actor Mohanlal’s Mother Santhakumari (90) Passes Away

The news of the demise of Santhakumari Amma (90), mother of Malayalam cinema’s leading actor Mohanlal, has brought deep sorrow to the film industry and his fans.

Actor Mohanlal’s mother, Santhakumari Amma, had been suffering from age-related health issues for some time. She was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi, where she passed away today after failing to respond to treatment.

Santhakumari Amma hailed from the Palakkad district of Kerala. Her husband, Viswanathan Nair, predeceased her. The couple had two sons: Mohanlal and Pyarelal (deceased).

Prominent figures from the Malayalam film industry, political leaders, and millions of fans have been expressing their deepest condolences over her passing.

Her body has been kept for public homage. The family has stated that the funeral rites will take place today (December 31). Key personalities from the film fraternity are expected to attend.

Mohanlal was deeply devoted to his mother. In many interviews, he has emotionally shared how pivotal her role was in his growth and success. It is noteworthy that over the last few years, he spent most of his time off-camera by her side, personally caring for her.

“The loss of a mother is an irreparable void. May God give Mohanlal and his family the strength to bear this immense grief,” expressed members of the film industry in their tribute.
