Director Mysskin had last directed Thupparivalan, released in 2017 and the movie which was a tale of a Sherlock Holmes style detective starring Vishal and Prasanna had turned a box office success. The movie also starred Vinay, Bhagyaraj, Andrea Jeremiah and Anu Emmanuel.

Before few months, there was an update that Mysskin had met Vishal during the shoot of the actor's next movie Action, directed by Sundar C, and had discussed and finalized their next movie which will be the sequel to Thupparivalan and will be shooting this year.

Now, actor Prasanna, who played the character Manohar, Vishal's friend and fellow detective has update on social media that the location scouting for Thupparivalan 2 has started, and that Mysskin is finding locations in London for the movie. Thupparivalan 2 will also be produced by Vishal's Vishal Film Factory.
