Yesterday, it was announced that Superstar Rajnikanth's 167th movie has been titled Darbar, and the first look poster of the movie had turned viral, with fans going gaga over the poster and decoding hidden stuff from the poster design.

Today, the movie directed by AR Murugadoss was launched officially with a formal pooja and the photos from the pooja ceremony were shared by the stylist Niharika Bhasin Khan on her social media handle. The movie will have Superstar Rajnikanth playing a cop, decades after his last police act in Pandian.

Darbar stars Nayanthara as the female lead. and Anirudh returns to score music for Rajnikanth after Petta. The movie will also mark Santosh Sivan's collaboration with Rajnikanth 28 years after Thalapathy, and with Murugadoss after Thuppakki and Spyder. Darbar is scheduled to release on Pongal 2020.
