Renowned playback singer Jonita Gandhi has shocked fans by speaking out about the sexual harassment she has endured online.
A Canadian-born artist, Jonita has made a mark in the Indian film industry with her versatile voice across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi songs. She rose to fame in Tamil cinema with the track “Mental Manadhil” from Mani Ratnam’s OK Kanmani and went on to deliver chartbusters like “Chellamma” and “Arabic Kuthu” in collaboration with music director Anirudh. She is currently performing internationally, balancing live concerts with film work.
In a recent interview, Jonita opened up about disturbing experiences on social media. “One day, I was casually checking Instagram stories from friends when I saw a man expose himself in a post—with my photo in the background. It was shocking,” she revealed.
“I usually block such people instantly. I haven’t taken legal action yet, but that doesn’t make it any less serious—it is sexual harassment. Unfortunately, I’ve faced many such incidents,” she added.
Jonita’s brave disclosure has sparked conversations around online harassment, highlighting the need for stronger action and awareness.
