As anticipation builds for the global release of “Thug Life”, Mani Ratnam’s film starring Kamal Haasan, speculation is already swirling around the acclaimed director’s next project.
Earlier reports suggested that Mani Ratnam was planning a romantic drama featuring newcomers. While he did express interest in such a film, he recently clarified in an interview that his next project would indeed feature established stars.
According to the latest buzz, Simbu (STR) is in talks to star in the director’s upcoming film. If confirmed, this would mark the third collaboration between Simbu and Mani Ratnam, following “Chekka Chivantha Vaanam” and “Thug Life.”
Additionally, Rukmini Vasanth, who gained attention for her role in Vijay Sethupathi’s “Ace”, is said to be the leading lady. Industry sources claim that casting discussions are nearing completion.
The film is reportedly set to be produced by Lyca Productions. Insiders suggest that if delays continue on Simbu’s long-pending STR 49, shooting for this Mani Ratnam project could begin sooner than expected.
