Bollywood star Ajay Devgn recently voiced his support for new mothers requesting an 8-hour work shift, stating that most sensible filmmakers wouldn’t object to such a request. Speaking at an event in Mumbai, his remarks are being interpreted as a subtle show of support for Deepika Padukone.
The timing of his statement is notable, as it follows reports of a fallout between Deepika and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Deepika had allegedly requested a 6-hour workday and a high remuneration for her role in Vanga’s upcoming film “Spirit,” starring Prabhas. Reportedly unhappy with her conditions, Vanga opted to cast Tripti Dimri instead.
The controversy escalated when some media reports suggested that Deepika turned down the film due to its A-rated content. In response, Vanga accused her of running a “dirty PR campaign” against him.
While Ajay Devgn didn’t name anyone directly, his comments are widely seen as a veiled endorsement of Deepika’s stance, sparking fresh discussion in the industry on work-life balance and professionalism.
