VJ Chithra's untimely and unexpected death by suicide on December 9th has not only left thousands of fans in grief but has also left a void in 'Pandian Stores' the serial that gave her widespread fame.

Chithra shined as the central character Mullai and fans began calling her by that name and many watched the serial mainly because of her presence. The shooting of 'Pandian Stores' resumed on December 11th with the cast and crew paying homage to her by garlanding a framed photo of their Mullai.

There has been talk that actress Sharanya Turadi is likely to replace Chithra as Mullai and the news was widely reported. The 'Kadhal' actress has opened up on the report in her social media post.

Sharanya has written "There's a news going around that I am replacing chitra as Mullai in pandian stores. This is not true. I don't believe in replacing Mullai. She earned her recognition as Mullai with her impeccable performance which would be remembered forever. I respect that and I would rather let that be.. @chithuvj".

Other sources too have added that the team of 'Pandian Stores' want to give Mullai a closure and will not continue the character as a tribute to the late Chithra.
