Earlier this week, Alluri Soumya, who hails from the West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, moved the High Court of Telangana against 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram'. As per the petition, the SS Rajamouli directorial deliberately insults both Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem, the freedom fighters who are admired for their valour by millions of Indians. The petitioner wants a stay on the release of the Jr NTR-Ram Charan film.
What precisely are the grounds on which the petition opposes 'RRR'? For one, the petitioner is against the alleged romanticization of Alluri's relationship with his soulmate. Alluri is played by Ram Charan and Sita is played by Alia Bhatt.
There is another ground on which the film has been opposed. As per the trailer, Alluri is a cop who works for the British before turning against them. "How can a great patriot be shown to work for the colonialists in exchange for a few bucks?" the petition suggests.
The petitioner is ready to withdraw the petition if the names of the characters played by Charan and Jr NTR are changed. "If the names are fictional, we have no objection," she said.
On his part, Rajamouli recently confirmed that 'RRR' is totally a fictional story based on real-life freedom fighters.
