Nagarjuna Akkineni Announces ₹2 Crore Scholarship Fund for ANR College

In a heartening gesture that underscores his family’s enduring commitment to education, King Nagarjuna Akkineni announced the establishment of a ₹2 crore scholarship fund for ANR College, Gudivada, during the institution’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The actor attended the landmark event as chief guest, making the occasion especially memorable for students, faculty, and alumni.

Addressing the gathering, Nagarjuna revealed that the scholarship fund is being instituted in loving memory of his parents—legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Annapurna Akkineni. He noted that the decision was taken collectively by the Akkineni family, including his sister Susheela, brother Venkat, and other family members.

“Honouring our parents in a meaningful way is our responsibility,” Nagarjuna said. “We will work closely with the ANR College management to complete the formalities and ensure the fund is implemented thoughtfully and effectively. Many years ago, my father contributed ₹1 lakh to this institution, and it feels only right that we continue and expand upon that legacy.”

The announcement was met with warm applause, reflecting widespread appreciation for the family’s generosity and their sustained engagement with education and community service. The scholarship fund is expected to support deserving students and further strengthen ANR College’s mission of accessible, quality education.

The Diamond Jubilee celebrations thus stood out not only as a milestone in the college’s history but also as a testament to the Akkineni family’s values—paying tribute to the past while investing in the future.
