The legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam is back to stun the filmgoers with his stellar screen language and visual storytelling in the magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan 1'. Touted to be the most expensive Indian film, this is the official cinematic adaptation of the renowned author Kalki's epic novel of the same name. The team will start the country-wide promotional tour with Thanjavur temple.

Meanwhile, the sources tell us that the total runtime of 'PS1' is nearly 2 hours and 46 minutes. The first half is said to be 1 hour and 21 minutes long while the second half is 1 hour and 25 minutes long. As per the latest reports, the censor formalities of Ponniyin Selvan are under process. We hear that the CBFC members are keen to watch the film and track any historical inaccuracies that could possibly hurt people’s sentiments.

Starring Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Shobita Dhulipala, and Jayaram among others in key roles, Ponniyin Selvan 1 is slated to hit the screens worldwide on September 30. 'PS1' is the first Tamil movie to be released in the IMAX format. It has music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman with editing by Sreekar Prasad.
