At the audio launch of the upcoming film ‘Maaman’, actor Soori spoke joyfully about the film and its making. After gaining prominence as the lead in Vetrimaaran’s ‘Viduthalai’ and delivering hits with ‘Kottukkaali’ and ‘Karudan’, Soori returns with this family drama directed by Prashanth Pandiraj, a former assistant to Pandiraj. ‘Maaman’ is set to release in theatres on May 16.
During the event, Soori shared a few insights: “After hearing the story, I discussed it with Vetrimaaran anna, who suggested adding certain elements. I conveyed those to director Prashanth. He told me this story happens in every household – it even reflects my own family experiences.”
He highlighted that a child’s character plays a major role in the film. “We searched extensively for the right child actor. I sent many photos, and the director kept saying, ‘Let’s see…’. During the first shoot, someone said ‘Ajith-ay…’, and the voice kept repeating – that’s when we discovered it was the same child. I asked him, ‘Where is the director?’ and he replied, ‘My dad’s right here!’ – that’s when I found out the child was the director’s son all along.”
Soori humorously added that the boy kept an eye on his dad while filming romantic scenes and complained to his mom about it. He concluded, “This film will resonate with every family. When you watch it in the theatre, you won’t see a film – you’ll see your own family. I believe this movie will transform someone in my family – once it happens, I’ll tell you who.”
