At a time when there is a severe water crisis in cities like Chennai, most of the districts of Assam and at least 12 districts of Bihar are witnessing floods. As per different estimates, at least 60 lakh people have been affected by the untimely rains, followed by severe flooding.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that at least 25 people have died due to floods in his State. “Relief and rescue operations are underway. As many as 26 teams of State Disaster Relief Force and National Disaster Relief Force teams have rescued around 1,25,000 people safely from flood-affected areas. About 199 relief camps, 676 community kitchens have been set up, more such steps will be taken,” the CM added.
Shortage of essentials, road connectivity issues, artificial price rice, etc have been reported from these districts.
