Karthi is on leading star in Tamil cinema who has surprised his fans regularly with the different types of roles he plays in each of his films. In the recent past he gave back to back commercial blockbuster films 'Sarkar' and 'Viruman'. His next release is going to Mani Ratnam's mega multistarrer 'Ponniyin Selvan' on September 30th followed by 'Sardar' directed by P.S. Mithran releasing worldwide on Diwali this year.

Karthi has given call sheet next for a new movie directed by Raju Murugan of 'Cuckoo' and 'Joker' fame. The duo had earlier worked in Vamshi Padipipally's 'Thozha' for which Raju Murugan wrote the Tamil dialogues. It has been reported that the film may be titled as 'Japan'.

The initial information coming in from sources close to the team suggest that Karthi will be playing a very different role that has never been attempted before. He is already said to have started extensive preparation for the role as the shooting is expected to star by mid September. Dream Warrior Pictures is bankrolling while the rest of the cast and crew details will be revealed soon. Stay tuned.
