Javed Akhtar Compares Pakistan to Hell in Controversial Statement

Bollywood’s renowned lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar recently made a bold statement during a book launch event in Mumbai. Speaking at the occasion, Akhtar said, “As far as I’m concerned, hell is better than Pakistan. I would prefer to go to hell.”

Addressing criticism from different groups, he mentioned, “One side accuses me of being a ‘kafir’ and says, because I don’t believe in God, I will definitely go to hell. The other side calls me a ‘jihadi’ and tells me to go to Pakistan.”

Referring to these opposing views, he added, “It seems I have only two options — either go to hell or to Pakistan. Between the two, I choose hell.”

Recalling his early life, Akhtar said, “I came to Mumbai at the age of 19. This city gave me everything and made me who I am today. I will never forget my gratitude towards Mumbai.”
