At the grand trailer launch of Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Kamal Haasan, actor Simbu (Silambarasan TR) made a series of candid and intriguing remarks that quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Responding to various questions during the event, Simbu offered his thoughts on cinema, personal choices, and upcoming trends. When asked about a potential sequel to one of his iconic films, he said,
“Between Manmadhan 2 and Vallavan 2, I think Manmadhan 2 would suit today’s audience better.”
On being posed with a fun hypothetical — whether he’d prefer to act in a biopic of Virat Kohli or Kamal Haasan — Simbu replied:
“I’d love to act in both! In fact, I was thrilled recently when Virat told me he liked my song ‘Nee Singam Thaan.’”
Simbu also recommended three films that he believes every aspiring director should watch: Oru Thalai Ragam, Nayagan, and Indian. When reflecting on his cult classic Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya, he remarked:
“You can’t recreate that kind of magic again. This film (Thug Life) is something entirely different.”
Speaking about his role in Thug Life, Simbu teased,
“Whether I play the hero or the villain, you’ll find out when you see the trailer. It clearly shows who I am in this story.”
He ended with a philosophical note that resonated with many:
“I don’t want to be good, and I don’t want to be bad. I just want to be myself.”
With his honest words and confident presence, Simbu once again proved why he remains one of Tamil cinema’s most intriguing and unpredictable stars.
