Popular director Vijay is famous for his films with top heroes such as Ajith ('Kreedam'), Vijay ('Thalaivaa') , Vikram ('Deiva Thirumagal') and Arya ('Madrasapattinam'). His mother Valliammai passed away earlier today due to age related illness. Her last rites will be held on Monday July 18th.

Valliammai is the wife of veteran film producer A.L. Alagappan and her elder son Udhaya is also an actor and film producer. The 80 year old is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. Actress Amala Paul was married to Vijay from 2014 to 2017 before divorcing. G.V. Prakash Kumar who is a close friend rushed to the Vijay household with his family to pay his respects.

Vijay who recently directed the critically acclaimed Jayalalitha biopic 'Thalaivi' starring Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swamy is currently directing an untitled film starring Arun Vijay in the lead role.
