Directed by debutant director Vijay Sri G, the movie Dhadha 87 released last month had received critical acclaim and had veteran Chaaru Haasan, Saroja, Sri Pallavi, Janagaraj, Anand Pandi and many others playing key roles in it.

The movie which had the director voicing out in support of transgenders demanding their rights to be called as women, had good patronage from audience, and had the lead actress Sri Pallavi taking up the bold role of a transgender making it the first instance of a heroine playing a transgender.

Now it has been said that Dhadha 87 has joined the national award race, as the bold and talented performer Sri Pallavi has been reportedly nominated in the best actress category for her interesting and realistic portrayal of a transgender.
