The Hindi remake of Mari Selvaraj’s critically acclaimed Tamil film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ is titled ‘Dhadak 2’, and its release date has now been officially announced by the film’s team.
‘Dhadak 2’ is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in lead roles. The film is a remake of the 2018 Tamil film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, which was well-received for addressing caste-based issues. Interestingly, the original Tamil film was itself a remake of the Marathi film ‘Sairat’, directed by Nagraj Manjule and also backed by Dharma Productions.
Directed by Shazia Iqbal, ‘Dhadak 2’ ran into trouble with the censor board due to some dialogues related to caste. Initially scheduled for release in November 2023, the film got postponed to March 2025, and was later delayed again.
Now, after the removal of 16 caste-related dialogues, the censor board has granted the film a U/A 16+ certificate. Following this approval, the filmmakers have confirmed that ‘Dhadak 2’ will hit theatres on August 1. The official posters for the movie have also been released, generating buzz among fans and movie lovers.
