Popular comedy actor Maaran of 'Ghilli' and 'Thalainagaram' fame passes away

The deadly COVID 19 second wave is continuing to claim the lives of hundreds of people in Tamil Nadu. Almost on a daily basis, famous Tamil cinema personalities have succumbed to it after testing positive. Recently comedy actor Pandu, Joker Thulasi and Nellai Siva have lost their lives.
Another shocking news is that popular comedy actor Maaran aka Manimaran has passed away due to COVID 19 infection at the age of 48. He was reportedly admitted to a hospital in his hometown Natham near Chengalpattu and was under treatment but lost the battle.
Maaran, who was also a gaana singer, folk dancer and stuntman was first noticed playing Vijay's friend Aadhivaasi in the blockbuster hit 'Ghilli'. He later has featured in important roles in many films including 'Dishyum', 'Vettaikaaran' and 'Boss Engira Bhaskaran' Recently he featured in the pan Indian blockbuster movie 'KGF : Chapter 1'.
Maaran's last film role was also the biggest in his career in the upcoming movie 'Sarpatta Parambarai' directed by Pa Ranjith and starring Arya and Kalaiarasan. A special character poster was released revealing that Maaran will appear in the role of Maanja Maaran in the film. RIP!
