Grande filed for divorce from Gomez in Los Angeles on Monday, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason, a source familiar with the situation told Page Six. Family law attorney Laura Wasser is representing Grande, while Gomez’s legal representation has not been disclosed.
Grande got married to Gomez in 2021, and reports said the wedding was a private one with not more than 20 guests. Grande’s spokesperson explained that the wedding was an intimate event with bliss and tears of joy throughout. While Grande herself posted photos of the ceremony on her Instagram account, they have since been deleted. Photos on Grande’s page showed the singer in a Vera Wang gown and her husband in a Tom Ford suit kissing.
Grande announced their engagement after the wedding in 2021, following her previous engagement to comedian Pete Davidson. Grande and Gomez went public with their relationship in 2020 when she released her song ‘Stuck with U’ with Bieber, in which Gomez made an appearance in the music video. They got engaged later in the same year.
When Grande was spotted without her wedding ring at the event at Wimbledon in July, the first reports of a possible breakup started. Grande's latest social media photo with Gomez is from the month of November, and they kept their relationship under wraps from the public.
Before the SAG-AFTRA strike in July, the Grammy winner had been shooting the big-screen adaptation of "Wicked" in London alongside Bailey, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Bowen Yang.
