Actress and former Bigg Boss contestant Payal Rohatgi has been arrested by the Ahmedabad city police on Friday for allegedly threatening and abusing the residents of her housing society. The actress was charged for uttering obscene words (IPC section 294-b), intentional insult (section 504) and criminal intimidation (section 506).
The complaint was registered by society chairman Dr Parag Shah and the FIR was filed on Thursday, according to the police. The chairman reportedly claimed that Payal has been harassing her neighbours for over a year and even threatened the children of the society saying she would 'break their legs' if they played in the common area. The FIR also alleged that Payal had abused society members during the annual general meeting and posted abusive messages on the society's WhatsApp group.
Payal Rohatgi was previously arrested once in 2019 after she posted derogatory remarks against the Nehru-Gandhi family on Twitter. After her release, the actress had said, "Thank you everybody for getting me out. I was very scared in jail, but now I am very happy. I have been politically victimised. I spent a sleepless night and it was very cold. We slept on the floor on a mattress. It was my first experience in jail and I hope it to be the last."
