Bollywood star Aamir Khan has opened up about his divorce with filmmaker Kiran Rao and addressed the rumours of another woman being responsible for their separation.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao announced that they were ending their marriage last year after 15 years of being together. He was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two kids - son Junaid Khan and daughter Ira Khan. Aamir Khan explained that nobody else was responsible for his divorce with either of them. “When Reena and I got separated, there was no one in my life. A lot of people think that Kiran and I met before my divorce from Reena but it’s not true. Kiran and I had met but we didn’t really know each other and we became friends much later,” the actor was quoted as saying in an interview with News18.

Aamir and Kiran Rao, in a joint statement, announced their separation last July. “In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives - no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other,” their note read.
