When annoyed Savitri got tough with actress

Savitri, a disciplined actress, would brooch no impunctuality.  Those were the days when she had gone past her busy days.  She was working with director Babu Rao on a film.  It had actress Deepa in a key role.  

Something that happened between Deepa and her senior, legendary counterpart is interesting.  Deepa, who was much younger, was a busy actress in various languages.  On the day she got to meet Savitri, Deepa boasted about her status of being a much sought-after actress.  ”It’s not important in how many languages you are doing movies.  What is important is what kind of roles you are playing,” an insightful Savitri told Deepa.

The next day, Deepa turned up very late for the shoot.  The director decided to make use of Savitri’s time by shooting her portions.  A much-relaxed Deepa arrived on the sets late in the evening.  This annoyed Savitri.  She asked Deepa to be punctual.  ”There was a time when I was very busy.  But never did I keep anybody waiting,” the Mahanati told her.  At this, Deepa, sounding unrepentant, said that films would be launched very seldom in olden days.  ”These days, films are being launched every week.  I was not feeling well.  That’s why I came late today.  I am giving you this explanation because you are a senior actress,” she replied to Savitri as if justifying her lack of time sense.

Vexed, Savitri now got sarcastic.   “Since you are not feeling well, you may want to take rest on the bed.  In any case, that’s your shot for the day.  Sleep off in a tired posture.  You will look so natural in the frames,” Savitri shot back.
