Even as Vikram is in celebration mode with the box office success of Iru Morgan` he has more to cheer as his son Dhruv Vikram`s English language short film Good Night Charlie` is evidence that exceptional talent runs deep in the family. Dhruv has shown amazing maturity and has filmed with authority a difficult subject for his age.
Good Night Charlie` is about a four year old boy suffering an unspeakable horror at the hands of a monster in his own home and at his age is unable to understand or cope up with it. Charlie`s mother Angela and father Rob are a loving couple who adore their son. Is that a ghost tormenting the child? Could the child psychiatrist Simon, who is staying with the family for a fortnight have something to do with this? Dhruv wonderfully threads these and other questions in his fluent narration, keeping the audiences engrossed till the climax twist which sends shivers through the spines as Charlie is undergoing a far worse torture than any ghost or devil can mete out.
Throughout the 15 odd minutes running time the shots that Dhruv employs telegraph an uneasy feeling to the viewer`s mind sucking him into the story. He has extracted excellent performances from all four actors, especially Tyler Ross as Charlie. The smooth edit ensures that the suspense is maintained till the very last second and the music compliments the flow. A Red Carpet welcome to you Dhruv and your super talented father need look no further for a helmer when he decides to make his Hollywood debut which he must soon.
