Vetrimaaran has delivered two back to back critically acclaimed and commercially blockbuster films 'Vada Chennai' and 'Asuran' both starring Dhanush. There is huge curiosity over his next film and it is already confirmed that he would be helming Suriya's 41st film 'Vaadivaasal' produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu.
Vetrimaaran wanted to do a quickie before 'Vaadivaasal' and signed Soori to play the lead role and initially chose the late Na Muthukumar's collection of poems 'Pattamboochi Virpavan' for inspiration. Later he decided to adapt the novel 'Anjabee' written by Meeran Moideen which dealt with the problems faced by Indians working in the gulf.
The coronavirus pandemic disrupted the plans to shoot in the UAE where 'Ajanbee' is set and rumours started floating that the Vetrimaaran-Soori project could be dropped. But now comes the good news that the hard-hitting filmmaker has zeroed in on a new script and will start shooting in Sathyamangalam from December 8th and complete in one single schedule of forty days.
This time Vetrimaaran is adapting the short story 'Thunaivan' written by Jayamohan and Bharathiraja has come on board to play a powerful character along with Soori. Initially, Elred Kumar was supported to produce the film but now the director himself is bankrolling. The rest of the cast and crew details will be out soon.
