With Tamil Nadu inching closer towards 30,000 confirmed Covid-19 cases, the state government on Thursday fixed the rate card for coronavirus treatment in private hospitals.
The Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme has been deployed to authorize private hospitals to prescribe limits for COVID-19 treatment charges. Parameters like symptoms and facilities have been taken into consideration for the same.
The beneficiaries need not pay anything to hospitals, the AIADMK government said. Besides, the hospitals will have to abide by certain specifications.
Only existing beneficiaries of the CMCHIS can make use of the scheme. “The maximum rate per day for treatment in a general ward for asymptomatic people and those with mild symptoms is Rs 5,000,” PTI has quoted Health Minister C Vijayabaskar as saying.
Intensive Care Unit treatment with all facilities can be anywhere from Rs 9,000 and Rs 15,000 per day.
As much as 25% of the total bed capacity must be allocated to CMCHIS beneficiaries.
No charges can be levied for patients apart from what is already allowed.
