In what might set a precedent for the future, top civic official of Govt. of Tamil Nadu and chief-secretary Girija Vaidyanathan got herself treated for her leg injury at the Rajiv Gandhi Govt. General Hospital opposite Central Station in Chennai today.
It has become an usual practice for politicians (whether in power or not) and high-ranking civic officials to get themselves treated for their injuries and other types of illnesses only at expensive private hospitals neglecting Govt. Hospitals and Public Health Centres.
Girija, said to be an affable yet strict officer and who heads the entire batch of IAS and IPS officials working in Tamil Nadu, visited the Rajiv Gandhi Govt. General Hospital opposite Chennai Central Station this morning to get treatment for the injury on her leg, thus surprising Hospital administration and the doctors.
It’s time for us to laud her act as it might send a positive signals to other officials as well as politicians that there is no ‘ghost’ in Govt. Hospitals!
