Respect for Kamal: Embracing His Influence Without Overstepping Boundaries

A grand audio launch event for the film ‘Thug Life’ was held today at Sai Ram College in Chennai. The entire film crew attended the event, making it a significant celebration ahead of the film’s theatrical release on June 5. As part of the promotions, the team has been visiting various parts of India.

Actor Simbu shared a humorous anecdote from the shooting experience. He mentioned filming a scene alongside Kamal Haasan, where he had to speak in Haasan’s voice. Simbu admitted being nervous and hesitated to deliver the dialogue in front of the veteran actor. Director Mani Ratnam questioned why Simbu wasn’t speaking, prompting Kamal Haasan himself to guide him. Simbu recalled a particular shot where he had to grab Haasan’s neck, and joked that if he didn’t do it right, the director might actually grab his own neck instead.

Reflecting on his career journey, Simbu became emotional. He thanked his parents, T. Rajendar and Usha Rajendar, for introducing him to acting from a young age, even though it was uncomfortable balancing studies and acting during his childhood. He originally didn’t want his father to attend the event, fearing he would become emotional, yet Simbu himself became overwhelmed.

He addressed recent discussions on social media comparing him to Kamal Haasan, especially one popular dialogue which follows the style of Haasan’s character Ranga Rao in ‘Devar Magan.’ Simbu humbly stated that legends like Sivaji Ganesan and Kamal Haasan are irreplaceable, and achieving their stature is not easy. He praised Kamal Haasan’s humility and said that he aspires to earn his place through hard work.

Simbu concluded by saying that the film ‘Thug Life’ marks a new beginning in his journey, promising more meaningful work and expressing gratitude to his fans and supporters.
