Director Teja became a celebrity back in the early 2000s when ‘Chitram’ released. Along with him, because of this very film, Uday Kiran became the talk of the town as a debutant hero who scored a blockbuster at a young age. Teja accidentally roped the same actor for his second film, ‘Nuvvu Nenu’, after failing to do it with Madhavan. This time, again, the Teja-Uday Kiran duo struct gold at the BO. It was a silver jubilee blockbuster. Uday Kiran now started to become a youth icon for being a star without any film background, much like Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja had been.
Uday Kiran’s career soon fell apart after his films started failing continuously from 2003-04 or so. In 2014, the youngster committed suicide, leaving his admirers shocked and devastated. Since then, there have been speculations that this or that director will make a biopic on his life.
Teja’s name has been written in this context. However, the ‘Nene Raju Nene Mantri’ director has categorically said that he will not make a biopic on Uday Kiran even though he knows all about his life. “He used to confide in me about his personal life. Yet, I won’t make a film on him, as I don’t want to cash in on his miseries,” Teja has been quoted as saying.
