Thalapathy Vijay's 'Master' the hottest movie in the trade this year was slated for release on April 9th but the unfortunate interference of COVID 19 that has crippled the world put a roadblock. After the government gave permission for postproduction activities director Lokesh Kanagaraj and the team are involved in the works and it is said will complete the entire process by the month-end.
Meanwhile the coronavirus lockdown has created a huge demand for OTT platform content and big streamers including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are keen to bag films of top stars for direct online release. Reportedly offers came for 'Master' for astronomical amounts that even exceeded normal theatrical collections. But Vijay had asked Lalith Kumar the worldwide distribution rights holder not to sell to OTT as he wanted his fans to enjoy the film in theaters first even if the release takes longer.
Lalith meanwhile had problems because he had to pay interest for the finance that he got to bag the rights for 'Master' and distributors who had paid him to advance too were affected in the process. Lalith honoring Vijay's words has refused the OTT offer and has also agreed to pay interest to the distributors who are getting affected.
Lalith's sincerity in business and his gesture towards smaller distributors has mightily impressed Thalapathy Vijay who has promised him a new film project once he completes 'Thalapathy 65' for Sun Pictures and 'Thalapathy 66' for Sri Thenandal Films.
