Atlee has showered praise on Karuppu after watching the film, calling it a complete theatrical entertainer and a “pure mass commercial blockbuster.”
Sharing his excitement on Instagram Stories, Atlee described the film as a treat for family audiences and congratulated director RJ Balaji, Suriya, and the entire team for delivering such an entertaining experience.
The appreciation comes at a time when “Karuppu” is enjoying a phenomenal run at the box office. The film has been posting exceptional collections ever since its release and recently crossed the ₹100 crore mark in India within its first week.
Trade reports suggest that the movie collected around ₹8.94 crore on Wednesday alone, pushing its India net total close to ₹104 crore, while the overall India gross has reportedly crossed ₹119 crore.

After opening with ₹15.50 crore on Day 1, the film witnessed massive growth over the weekend. Strong word of mouth and positive audience response helped “Karuppu” maintain remarkable momentum even during weekdays.
The action drama has also emerged as one of the biggest successes in Suriya’s recent career, surpassing the lifetime collections of some of his previous releases within just a few days.
Interestingly, the film’s release itself faced unexpected hurdles. “Karuppu” was initially scheduled to release on May 14, but screenings were abruptly cancelled due to financial disputes between the producer and distributors. The sudden development created confusion among fans before director RJ Balaji later confirmed that the issues had been resolved and announced a revised release.
Meanwhile, Atlee is currently occupied with his ambitious big-budget project “Raaka,” starring Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone. Reports suggest that Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, and Janhvi Kapoor are also expected to play pivotal roles in the film.
Backed by Sun Pictures, “Raaka” is reportedly being mounted on a massive scale with a budget exceeding ₹700 crore, making it one of the most ambitious Indian films currently in production.
