Thalapathy Vijay's Master team has made an official announcement regarding the release date of the movie. Master is all set to hit the screens on January 13, 2021, coinciding with the Pongal celebrations in Tamil Nadu.

The announcement comes a day after Vijay met Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, seeking the government's support and guidance to release the movie in theatres with maximum capacity. The TN government has currently allowed 50 percent seating capacity in theatres amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The much-awaited movie recently received U/A certification from the censor board and will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and bankrolled by Xavier Britto under the XB creaters banner, Master stars Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist and Malavika Mohanan as the female lead. Shanthanu, Arjun Das, and Andrea will also be playing significant roles in the film.
