Tourist Family, a Tamil comedy-drama film featuring M. Sasikumar and Simran, is witnessing strong box office performance worldwide. Since its release on May 1, 2025, the movie has garnered approximately ?55 crore globally, as reported by industry analyst Sreedhar Pillai. The film had its premiere on April 29 before hitting cinemas across Tamil Nadu and selected international markets.
Directed by Abishan Jeevinth and produced by Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment, the film centers around a Sri Lankan Tamil family who moves to Chennai to escape economic hardship. As they try to start anew under false identities, their journey is complicated by an ongoing investigation. The film subtly portrays themes like migration, identity, and belonging.
The cast also includes Mithun Jai Sankar, Kamalesh, Yogi Babu, M.S. Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, and Bagavathi Perumal. Notably, the film was completed in a single 35-day schedule by early January. Music composer Sean Roldan, cinematographer Aravind Viswanathan, and editor Barath Vikraman were key contributors behind the scenes.
Despite being a low-budget movie, Tourist Family has outperformed expectations. According to trade expert Laxmi Kanth, the film is among the top-grossing Tamil releases of the year and continues to attract family audiences on weekdays. With its global earnings expected to surpass ?60 crore, the film sets a new benchmark for indie productions. More earnings updates, particularly from international markets, are eagerly awaited.
