Tamil cinema has been stirred by actor Power Star Srinivasan’s bold declaration that he will contest against actor-turned-politician Vijay in any constituency he chooses.
Vijay, who launched the ‘Thamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam’ last year, is expected to contest the 2026 elections, with his supporters projecting him as a Chief Ministerial candidate.
In a recent interview, Power Star Srinivasan stated, “I will run against Vijay, regardless of the party or constituency he chooses.” He recalled a past interaction with Vijay at an audio launch, where the star mentioned that while he had fans worldwide, his own son was a fan of Srinivasan. However, he criticized Vijay’s recent political speeches, stating, “He used to be soft-spoken, but now his speeches are aggressive.”
Srinivasan further challenged Vijay, saying, “Come to the field! Only in the real battle can we determine victory or defeat. Crowds don’t guarantee success; I also had many fans but couldn’t form a party due to certain reasons.”
He confirmed his decision to contest against Vijay in 2026, either as an independent candidate or under a major party’s banner if invited. Criticizing Vijay’s political stance, he added, “Instead of outlining policies, Vijay is simply pointing out enemies. The parties he opposes have decades of experience—equal to his own age.”
Expressing his admiration for the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Srinivasan admitted he was deeply upset by Vijay’s remarks about him, further fueling the ongoing political debate.
