The other day, Tharun Bhascker was subjected to so much tension by producer D Suresh Babu that the director was literally sweating while ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi’ was being premiered at Ramanaidu Studios. “I should have just passed my engineering exam and joined an IT job. Life would have been easier,” the young director quips.
“Suresh sir was standing at the entry door and closely watching the audience’s reactions to the film. Throughout the premiere, I was tensed as to what he will say after the show. He came out with a huge grin. He told us that there would be a press meet the next day,” Tharun Bhascker, who became a new Tollywood star with ‘Pelli Choopulu’, says. The press meet was meant to announce the release date of the film – it’s June 29. It was on this day in 2016 that ‘PC’ was released.
Tharun says that, after ‘PC’, almost everyone, including the security guard of Ramanaidu Studios, advised him as to what kind of film he should make! He finally zeroed in on a story that everyone can relate to. He drew from his experiences as a short-filmmaker.
A “universal buddy comedy”, ‘Ee Nagaraniki Emandi’ is expected to be a laugh riot and an emotional roller-coaster. Watch this space!
