STR’s Super Hit Action Blockbuster Set for Re-Release!

The re-release trend is gaining massive momentum in Tamil cinema. While new films continue to release week after week, fans are being treated to the big-screen return of classic hit movies starring top heroes.

After Ajith’s 50th film Mangatha recently enjoyed a hugely successful re-release, now it’s STR (Silambarasan TR / Simbu) fans’ turn to celebrate! Reliable sources including media outlets in Chennai and channels like News7 Tamil have confirmed that Simbu’s 2008 blockbuster action-mass entertainer Silambattam is set for a grand re-release.

The film is officially scheduled to hit theatres again on February 6, 2026.

In Silambattam, Simbu impressed audiences with a powerful double role (Velu & Thambi). The film also starred Prabhu, Sneha, Sana Khan, and others in key roles. Directed by S. Saravanan with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the movie became an instant favourite thanks to its high-octane action sequences, mass-appeal songs like “Vama Vama” and “Machanukku Machaan”, and Simbu’s electrifying energy and performance. Even today, it remains a cult favourite among fans.

In the current wave where Ajith’s Mangatha, Vijay’s old hits, and several other classics are being successfully re-released and packing theatres, the return of Silambattam is expected to bring fresh excitement and nostalgia to Tamil cinema audiences.
