Sivakarthkeyan recently delivered the blockbuster hit 'Maaveeran' directed by Madonne Ashwin and featuring a special voice over by Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi. He is currently involved in a long schedule of shooting for 'SK 21' produced by Kamal Haasan and directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy.

Sivakarthikeyan from the sets of 'SK 21' in Kashmir has posted a video wishing fans a happy Independence Day. In chaste Tamil he said "Lets appreciate our independence that we got after fighting for it for 200 years in slavery. Lets bow down to the unrelenting efforts of our Indian soldiers who protect our independence day and night in all conditions from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Happy Independence Day!"

'SK21' has Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles with G.V. Prakash Kumar scoring the music. The story is said to be based on the life of martryrd soldier Mukund Varadarajan who lost his life fighting and killing three terrorists during an attack in 2014.
