Simbu acted in the controversial film 'Anbanavan Adangadhavan Asaradhavan' (AAA) directed by Adhik Ravichander released in the year 2016 and flopped miserably at the box office. The producer Michael Rayappan in a press meet and several subsequent interviews alleged that Simbu due to his absolute non-cooperation during the shooting damaged the prospects of the film and he also complained to the Producers Council to collect compensation from the star as well.
Simbu filed defamation in the Madras High Court against Michael Rayappan for rupees one crore and also included actor Vishal the President of the Producers Council. The case came up for hearing and the defendants stated that Vishal is no longer holding the office in the council since it's now run by a government-appointed official. Judge Senthilkumar Ramamurthy ordered the removal of Vishal's name in the case and add the government special officer instead. The case has been adjourned to January 3rd.
