Director Shankar who has continuously made big budget extravaganzas elevated Tamil cinema to the world stage especially with his recent movie '2.0' starring Superstar Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.

In 2018 Shankar started his next magnum opus 'Indian 2' with the huge starcast of Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Siddharth and Samuthirakani. The film has faced several roadblocks namely makeup allergy for Kamal, a leg surgery he had to undergo, and then the tragic on-set accident that killed three crew members.

The coronavirus then caused a further big delay of more than eight months now and its not clear when Lyca Productions will be ready to resume work on 'Indian 2' since almost every scene involves a big crew and extras as well.

Now the big buzz in Kollywood is that during the lockdown Shankar has finished a brand new script which would have four leading heroes in the cast. It is said that Rockline Venkatesh the producer of Rajinikanth's 'Lingaa' will be bankrolling the project.

The sources add that Kannada cinema's young superstar Yash has already been okayed for the project while talks are on with Vijay Sethupathi from Tamil and other top heroes from Malayalam and Telugu. The film will release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Stay tuned for the official confirmation on this as the project is in a very nascent stage right now.
