Putting an end to rumors that have been circulating for some time, the marriage between actor Vijay and his wife Sangeetha has moved toward a legal separation. In the petition filed by Sangeetha’s side, several startling allegations have been made regarding the reasons for the divorce and the hardships she has been facing.
According to the petitioner Sangeetha, she discovered in April 2021 that Vijay was involved in a relationship with an actress. She stated that this caused her deep mental agony and was a major breach of trust in their marriage. Sangeetha further alleged that although Vijay initially promised to end the relationship, he continued it without any remorse.
Sangeetha stated that Vijay became emotionally distant from her starting in 2021. She claimed that Vijay constantly insulted her and forced her to live in isolation within their marital home. Furthermore, she pointed out in the petition that she was deliberately excluded from Vijay’s social and professional life.

It is alleged that Vijay went on foreign trips with the specific actress, and when those photos surfaced on social media, Vijay took no steps to prevent or deny them. Sangeetha expressed her pain, stating that this caused significant embarrassment and public humiliation for both her and her children within their social circles.
Despite efforts made since 2024 to resolve the issue amicably, it appears Vijay did not change his approach. Instead:The privileges she enjoyed as a wife were revoked.Strict financial constraints were imposed.Restrictions were placed on her freedom of movement.

Sangeetha noted that Vijay’s responses reflected financial dominance and a sense of superiority. While she has not explicitly named the actress at this stage, she has reserved the right to add her as a second respondent in the case if necessary.
Demands Placed Before the Court:
The marriage, which took place on August 25, 1999, should be annulled under the Special Marriage Act of 1954.
She should be granted the right to reside in the Neelankarai residence until a final judgment is reached or alternative accommodation is provided.

A fair and permanent alimony commensurate with Vijay’s status should be granted.
Sangeetha firmly stated in her petition that since the marital bond has been broken irretrievably, there is no option left but a legal separation.
