The trailer for DD Next Level, Santhanam’s upcoming horror-comedy, has been released ahead of its theatrical debut on May 16 and is quickly gaining traction online.
Running over three minutes, the trailer blends ghostly horror elements with Santhanam’s trademark humor. The story kicks off when Santhanam receives a mysterious phone call inviting him to a special movie screening. However, the outing takes a bizarre turn when he’s suddenly kidnapped and ends up aboard a haunted ship—where supernatural events begin to unfold.
Santhanam leads the film with a performance full of witty one-liners and physical comedy. The trailer suggests the film will follow a similar tone to his previous successful comedies. The cast also features Motta Rajendran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Redin Kingsley, Nilavu Ravi, and others, all contributing to the film’s comedic energy.
One moment that particularly caught attention in the trailer involves a cheeky meta-reference: Santhanam criticizes Redin Kingsley’s dialogue delivery by saying, “Don’t use the same modulation that Nelson taught you in every film,” prompting Redin to ask, “Nelson? Who’s that?” Motta Rajendran then jumps in with a hilarious line: “Ayyyo! Did you get cut from ‘Jailer 2’?“—a playful jab at director Nelson’s signature style.
The trailer also includes comedic sequences like Gautham Menon falling for Yashika and a humorous moment featuring a Suriya film song in the background.
With its mix of spoof, slapstick, and spooky fun, DD Next Level is generating buzz as a promising entertainer for fans of horror-comedy.
