Samantha criticizes director, explains to trolls

Samantha Akkineni has called out a view expressed by ‘Arjun Reddy’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga in a recent interview.  “If you don’t have the liberty to slap each other, then I don’t see any love there,” Sandeep had said in the interview, defending the behaviour of his hero in the Hindi remake of the movie.

With the ‘Oh Baby’ actress condemning the view as an expression of “toxic masculinity”, many Twitter users then pulled out a tweet made by Samantha when ‘Arjun Reddy’ hit the screens in 2017.  Back then, the star actress described it as the most original film that had brought golden days to Tollywood.  Trolls are lamenting that Sam is evidently displaying double standards by now calling out Sandeep Reddy.

Defending herself, Sam tweeted out saying, “Liking the film .. and disagreeing with a comment are two different things. I loved the story of one ‘Arjun Reddy’ .. not the generalization that love means having the liberty of slapping people around.”
