Dubai-based businessman BR Shetty has been planning to make a mythological magnum opus on the epic Mahabharatha. Starring Mohanlal, its budget is Rs 1,000 Cr. This India’s costliest movie has run into huge trouble.
The ambitious project has been shelved temporarily. Director Srikumar Menon and writer MT Vasudevan Nair had failed to “resolve” their creative differences. As such, the producer is no longer interested in continuing with the project in the current shape and form.
The project, however, is not dead. It will be revived in the future. For now, everything depends on rejigging the writing and direction departments so that hiccups can be avoided.
The film was planned to be released in 2020. It’s not happening definitely.
