Tamil cinema superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s final film ‘Jana Nayagan’ is confirmed to release as a Pongal special on January 9, 2026. Directed by H. Vinoth, this film is highly anticipated as Vijay’s last cinematic outing before his full-time entry into politics.
In the same Pongal race, Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Parasakthi’, directed by Sudha Kongara, is also lined up. Initially announced for January 14, the film is being distributed in Tamil Nadu by Red Giant Movies.
However, the latest reports creating buzz in the industry suggest a possible change in ‘Parasakthi”s release date. Sources indicate that the makers are attempting to advance it to January 10, which would set up a direct box-office clash with ‘Jana Nayagan’.
Notably, on December 18, TVK leader Vijay sharply criticized the ruling DMK in a public meeting, and the very next day, news about this potential release date shift emerged, drawing attention.
That said, this is yet to receive an official confirmation, so fans will have to wait for an announcement from the team. Pongal 2026 is shaping up to be a massive battle at the Tamil box office!
