Produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner, this project was initially referred to as ‘D54’. On the occasion of Pongal, the film’s title was officially announced as ‘KARA’, and the first-look poster quickly went viral.
Producer Ishari K. Ganesh confirmed the release date while attending ‘Nakshatra 2026’, a cultural festival held at Vels University. Speaking at the event, he stated:
“Dhanush’s ‘KARA’ will be released in theaters on April 30. Furthermore, it is my long-standing dream to produce ‘Vada Chennai 2’ with Dhanush.”
Key Highlights of the Film: Director: Vignesh Raja (of Por Thozhil fame), Screenplay: Vignesh Raja and Alfred Prakash (the duo behind Por Thozhil, Music: G.V. Prakash Kumar (rekindling the expectations of the successful Dhanush-GV combo, Cinematography: Theni Eswar, Dialogues/Lyrics: Yugabharathi and Asal Kolaar.
The film features Mamitha Baiju (Premalu fame) as the female lead opposite Dhanush. The supporting cast includes veteran and versatile actors:Jayaram, K.S. Ravikumar, Karunas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, M.S. Bhaskar
The film’s poster features the intriguing tagline: “Sometimes staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive,” suggesting an intense action thriller. Reports indicate that Dhanush plays ‘Karasamami’, a cotton farmer who emerges as a powerful force fighting against injustice.
Aiming for the summer holiday window with its late April release, the film is expected to make a significant impact at the box office.
