‘Ovvoru Pookalume’ fame visually impaired singer Komagan passes away

The rampant second wave of the deadly COVID 19 has claimed the life of one more celebrated artiste of the music world numbing the fraternity and fans.  Visually impaired singer Komagan attained fame by acting and singing a few lines of the song ‘Ovvoru Pookalume’ emotionally in the movie ‘Autograph’ directed by Cheran and starring Sneha.

It is said that twelve days back Komagan tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for treatment but a couple of days back when his condition worsened he was shifted to the ICF hospital in Ayanavaram Chennai.  It is reported that at around 1.30 am this morning Komagan passed away.

Komagan headed an orchestra consisting of all visually challenged musicians and singers which is popular among the people of Chennai.   After the success of ‘Autograph’ he has acted in a few films including Vijay’s ‘Sura’ and also composed music for a couple of movies.  He is the recipient of the Tamil Nadu state government’s Kalaimamani Award.

As a youngster, Komagan moved to Chennai from Nagercoil and worked as an instructor at the National Blind Society functioning at Madhavaram.  He was also a social activist especially fighting for causes that involved the physically disabled.

Komagan is survived by his estranged wife Anita and two children Monas and Movin.  His last rites will be conducted at the Villivakkam crematorium today according to sources.  We at Indiaglitz express our deepest condolences to the family of Komagan for the irreparable loss and remember him for his inspiration that disabilities can be and should be overcome in life.
